Deutsche Telekom AG connects up to 145,000 apartments to a new TV network in a joint project with a large housing company which operates nationwide. The first step, in the beginning of 2013, was to connect more than 20,000 households to the new fiber infrastructure of Deutsche Telekom. They now have access to modern TV and Internet services at special rates for tenants.
In the first project step WISI built up two regional headends and equipped them with the high density platform Tangram, which is suitable for extremely cost-effective EDGE applications. Moreover, two CMTS are connected behind the two regional headends. For the optical transmission in the network, WISI opted for its own energy-efficient access platform Optopus, and a broadcast/narrowcast architecture and CWDM technology for the upstream.
